I asked some tech guy to re-formatt my desktop PC. I have Win XP Pro. I am not much inot PC stuff, so no very little about computers. When I recieve an attachment by email I used to open it easily, whetehr it was photo or doc, etc. Dont ask me what was the original program that I used in order to open attachments - I dont know or recall the name/type. Now...AFTER reformating my PC, the guy had installed a bloody program named ACDsee. Its so terribly awkward to use, and every attachment must be run thru it - as a result...I am unable to view incoming docs (received via email attach).
What can I do to get rid of the damn ACDSee program and install (free) program that is from windows, or other known, trusted name. Thank you for alllll the Help. Thanks.

right click an image file
open with ...
choose program
(pick the program you want to open the file)
tick the box "always open files of this type"

After you have done this, each time you click on files of that type, they be opened with yr preferred application (ie, windows picture viewer or whatever it is you are used to)
Click on Start >>>>then control panel >>click on "Add remove Programs" >>> browse the ACDSee and Uninstall that ..
it will confirmt the uninstall and that's it its gone
its a third party software so windows is not going to be effected in any way
or if u dont want to uninstall ACDSee then whenever u download any attachment from E-mail "Right Click" on the file and click on "Open with" after that u'll get a list of programs there select "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" u'll have to repeat this action everytime
but if u want to make this thing default go through the same procedure till open with and then click on "Choose Program" a list will appear select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" and then on the same window down check the box " Always use selected program for this kind of file"
