Can anyone give the full material certificate / properties for the materiala AISI 4030 / SAE 4030. I need the max. allowable tensile strength and yield strength for designing a machine component. Even if you can provide the equvalent materil in ASTM or API will be good. Please give some standard information.

AISI 4030 is the base alloy for multiple ASTM/ASME applications depending on strain hardening and heat treatment process, (quench and tempered for example) with a range of resulting tensile properties. Usually the ASTM or ASME material standard is specified and the manufacturer will use the base alloy and apply the mentioned processes to meet the minimum tensile and ductility requirements. To get the base material properties, you should ask for the mill test reports/certificates since there are ranges for the (vanadium, carbon, etc.) alloying elements. You may also want to ask for the ladle analysis. Depending on your application, you may need to know what the levels are of phosphorous and sulfur as they can lead to brittleness and affect machining properties. You may want to contact the local steel service supply center near you as they can get the mill certificates for you.
