a + a/5 + 2/5a
(the /'s means it's a fraction)
Please show work! The answer is 8/5 it's in the back of the book but I don't understand how to do it.
a + a/5 + 2a/5 (I'm assuming this is what you meant)
(a * 5)/(1 * 5) + a/5 + 2a/5
5a/5 + a/5 + 2a/5
(5 + 1 + 2) * a/5
(8)a/5
8a/5
Now, if you did mean:
a + a/5 + 2/(5a)
Then:
(a * 5a)/(1 * 5a) + (a * a)/(5 * a) + 2/(5a)
5a²/5a + a²/5a + 2/5a
(a²(5 + 1) + 2) / 5a
(6a² + 2)/5a
math sucks

a + a/5 + 2a/5 (I'm assuming this is what you meant)
(a * 5)/(1 * 5) + a/5 + 2a/5
5a/5 + a/5 + 2a/5
(5 + 1 + 2) * a/5
(8)a/5
8a/5
Now, if you did mean:
a + a/5 + 2/(5a)
Then:
(a * 5a)/(1 * 5a) + (a * a)/(5 * a) + 2/(5a)
5a²/5a + a²/5a + 2/5a
(a²(5 + 1) + 2) / 5a
(6a² + 2)/5a
