Julie is a math tutor. She charges each student $210 for the first 7 hours of tutoring and $20 for each additional hour.
When the number of hours (h) that Julie spends tutoring a student is greater than 7 (h > 7), the equation that gives the amount (A) that Julie earns in dollars is what?
If Julie earns $410 tutoring one student, the total number of hours she spent tutoring the student is how many?

For h>7
C=210+20(h-7)
C=210+20h-140
C=20h+70, h>7
410=20h+70
20h=340
h=17 hours
For the first question, the equation would be 210+20(h+7) since you would add what she already has ($210) with what she will get per hour after seven hours [ 20(h+7) ]
For the second question, the total number of hours she spent tutoring the student is 10 hours. The equation I used was 410=210 + 20(n+7).
