go for the asus

go with the Asus c90. The compal may have some up to date components like the cpu and gpu but it fails in tech everywhere else. The compal has a matte screen and no e-sata or HDMI or DVI out.

You're looking at a laptop where almost everything is upgradable (c90) except the screen. So buy a laptop with the best screen and new technology. With a upgradable laptop you will be keeping this a lot longer than a fixed tech laptop so its not like you can add HDMI later down the road.

The C90 uses a desktop core, which means you might have to expect overheating. But being a desktop core, I'd imagine upgrading it might be easier and with more options.

However the IFL is well built and cheap. To get what you'd get on the compal on other laptops is a few hundred more.

Depends on your needs.
