C++ simple hook into program?
I read that hooking involves functions in between functions (or something like that) and something about you can change values of variables and such (kinda like hacks change things when you inject the dll). Whats the simplest example of hooking into a program that hopefully someone can write out real quick or 1 that already exists? Also i have no idea how to make a dll cause atm im still new to programming. Ty for any help

I'd look at key loggers. They can be interesting, and you can do some fun things with them. I wrote one a while back and they're not too complicated.
Basically, the hook software (for the key logger), sits between the keyboard driver and windows.
When you press a key, your hook catches the keypress, does stuff with it, then passes it on to Windows. You can do anything with the message before you pass it to Windows. e.g. Log it to notepad, change the value of it (so if someone presses "a", you can pass "b" on to Windows etc.
You can write as many hooks as you want, but you must always remember to pass the message on.

The hook can be a standalone exe file if you want. It doesn't have to be a dll
