Absolutely. Depending on where you place it on a body, it can easily kill. For instance, you can sever the carotid artery in the right side of the neck, which has virtually no protection. You could slice the upper right abdominal area, and lay open the liver. You can place it just below the middle of ribs, and puncture the stomach. Depending on the weight of the person, you could stab the side of the lower back, and catch the kidneys. I guess you could also slice off a tongue, or perhaps a penis, which would most likely cause exsanguination. There's also the obvious of stabbing out the eyes. It really doesn't take much to kill, or permanently hurt another human.
A 2.7inch Pocket Knife would do 83 melee damaged and if it's enchanted, it'll do an extra 14 magic damage! Pretty good for fighting nords, orcs, and elves. DON'T TRY TO USE IT AGAINST A MAGE!
Depends on how well you know how to sharpen it. I carry a 1.5 inch Gerber penknife on my key chain (for cutting open boxes, stripping wires, etc.), and I could shave with it. You probably can't reach somebody's internal organs with such a short blade, and the short handle doesn't give a very firm grip, but it might take out an eye or sever a major artery with a bit of luck if you were inclined to use it that way.
stop saying it depends on where you stab a person.. with most weapons, it obviously depends on where the injury is. 2.7 inches goes a long way, you dont HAVE to twist like some people are saying to do damage. a knife is a knife
A straight stab is quite survivable, depending where you stab. However it doesn't matter the size of your instrument, its how you use it!
You could stab straight in and straight out and person would have high likely of surviving, but if you stab then twist and pull and cut around... well thats much more effective and doesn't really matter how long the blade is.
it could kill someone. i have a very sharp pocket knife (even though it only cost like $7). it could easily cut through skin. if someone was stabbed through the eye, a pocket knife could kill them

Easy way to find out...
1. Open the blade and stab yourself
2. Repeat as needed
3. Assess damage
