I saw some pigeons and sparrows fervently pecking away at the grass patch outside, but they didn't seem to be pecking at insects, rather they looked like they were eating the grass. So do they?
No, they do not really eat grass. All birds, however, in the wild that have the ability to, eat some form of plant matter (flowers, berries, some growing vegetables) for vitamins A, B and D for the proper substation of life. Mostly, they look for ripened seeds to eat.
The pigeon diet consists of seeds, grains, some fruit, and green feed. They also feed on garbage, livestock manure, insects and a wide range of other foods.
No sorry they dont eat grass but they will eat the grass seeds, insects, or there was some type microscopic creature around or some afods from the roses. But there must have been something that they thought was edible, and if the sparrow is involved it must have been some type of bug
It could be that they're sick. And they're trying to find for natural objects to eat to cure themselves. Think its untrue ? Have you seen cats eat grass ? Check the cat chances are the cat probably got the flu or something...
