Anything you eat can affect your dreams. If you have a cerebral sensitivity to a food ( like a food allergy but the symptoms are not severe or life threatening) that food can give you nightmares, cause sleepwalking, or just give you weird dreams. The most offending foods are wheat, corn, soy, milk, peanuts. So figure that a sloppy joe has wheat ( in the bun) and probably corn syrup ( in the sauce and probably in the bun) and you have two main offenders there. I had this happen to me when young and went to an allergist who made me keep a food diary. He then had me stop eating these foods one at a time. When I got to corn the weird dreams, nighmares etc. stopped. I cut all corn products out of my diet for one year. After that I had no problems.
