I think it depends on your culture (some don't allow embalming and other preparations). For bodies that will be embalmed, made up and "prepared" for burial, they do sew the eyes and mouth shut. One of the many reasons I think cremation is the way to go.
Alot of near answers. The sew your eyes and lips closed if permitted by State law and your religion. Muscles tend to relax and contract during embalming. Also, there is some run off. They don't stitch your nose closed, but there is packing material used in some cases. Your body fluids do come out of the body. If you are still curious, some funeral homes have good literature on How and Why Comes.
no the do not sew them shut sometimes in rare occurrences they will apply superglue like substance but for the most part a body can be made to look very peaceful without to much effort
Nope, they sew your mouth and nose shut, then they write your surname on your thigh with a fat coloured marker, then they put a luggage tag on your big toe. Then they zip you in a black bag and put you in a fridge. Its all very matter of fact for undertakers.
yeah, I remember seeing my grandfather in his casket and you could kind of see the tugging on his lips from the stitches in his mouth. A bit freaky, and his fingers were a bit flat... not a very good embalming job.
