A spade if you're talking about playing cards, but if you are talking about a shovel for digging dirt then it's a shovel.
A spade has a medium lenght handle and a round 'mouth' on it for digging in and around plants etc. It is one kind of shovel. There are many different shovels; snow, manure, round mouth, etc. ruth
