So here in Manitoba Canada to become a paramedic you just need to have your grade 12 and a few certificates like CPR first aid (I'm pretty sure) and you can go right into the two year training course to start work in the ambulance at whatever college offers it but i was speaking to a paramedic who told me that it's a good idea to go to college and study the human anatomy and psychology but now I'm confused and I want to have the best education possible to benefit me for this career. Advice?

The program you're looking for is called "Primary Care Paramedic." There are a couple of schools in Manitoba that offer the training. Generally speaking, people don't get admitted into a PCP program right out of high school. I'd recommend going to college or university for a year or two. Take courses like Anatomy & Physiology and other general courses ... computer science, a second language, medical terminology, thing like that.
Also get some volunteering in. St. John Ambulance, Red Cross, United Way, all good organizations.
Depends on the state. Where I live, yes you must have an associates degree in the field. It is more than being CPR certified haha...if that was the case...and random person could just go and be an EMT...
