Yes and no. Ram does not always speed up a computer. If your processor is too old it will slow up your computer. If your hard drive is also old/full it will slow it up. The biggest jump in performance by uping ram is from 512 to 1 gig.
Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.
A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.
To make it simple. Yes. RAM is the least expensive way to increase your computers speed. However, the processor can only go so fast. So it is possible to buy more RAM then you can make use of. Feel free to email me with your processor speed and how much RAM you have now.(Right-click the My Computer icon and click properties and all of that info will be there in plain english.) And I can tell you how much RAM you will need to optimize your processing speed. The first time I did a RAM upgrade my speed tripled, and it only cost me $40. It is a VERY easy do-it-yourself job too.

Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.
The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:

does ram make my computer faster?
if not, then what does?
Yes RAM will speed up your comp..Since the programs that are run curently on ur comp will be runby the ram.
First thing you need to do is check up to what GB does you comp support RAM.and how many slots you have .
You can go to crucial.com and run a free program on their site which will tell you waht you can do what is currently on your PC.
Then you can decide which one to buy.A minimum of 1GB RAM will be good.I have 2GB in mine.
1GB should be some $35 in a good deal and a 2GB will usually be $80 but you can get one ina deal for $50-65.
IF you still have doubt , I can help you mess me..
