Ive been getting some emails recently from Cloudtact.com asking if I would like to join so-and-so's address book. Is this company legit? Should I accept the invite?
"Cloudtact does not share, sell or distribute your contact information to any advertising companies or marketers. We simply store information securely and allow you to share it with your friends and colleagues. That’s it. We take personal privacy very seriously and in order to avoid advertising all together we ask for a small payment when you go over 50 contacts in your Cloudtact Address Book. This model allows us to stay in business and keep our service up and running without the need of advertising."
Short answer: Yes, it's a legitimate company and they won't give away your info. Im a premium user as well.
Long Answer: Make sure, after you accept someone's invite, that you check their profile to make sure they verified their name, phone number, address, and email. Cloudtact makes you verify your info to prevent identity fraud. In order to send an invite, you have to verify your email address. If you don't know the person that sent you the invite then don't accept it.
Yes. Great company and product. They're not affiliated with advertisers, they make money from people like me who need to sync 500+ business contacts. They have a free service that let's you sync up to 50 contacts but over that is $9 a year.
Do a WhoIs search to see where the company is based out of. If its India, Russia, or Africa then beware. Cloudtact looks like its based out of Seattle and hosted by Amazon.com. Its safe.
