Would my Remington 870 12 gauge pump action shotgun and a Remington 597 .22lr semiautomatic rifle (total value approx. $500) be a fair trade for a Springfield Armory 1911 .45 handgun ($700+ value)?
Would it be a fair trade? No. One person is getting property worth more than the other.
Would it be a fair trade in the eyes of either party? Potentially both. If the person who has the 12ga/22 gets it, it's fair to him. If the person with the 1911 really wants those two Remingtons, it could be worth it to him.
Depends on the condition of the 1911 and how bad you want it. If the 1911 is really worth $700 and your guns are worth a total of $500, then is sounds like a good trade to me.

1. Well, that all depends on you. I mean even if your guns are in good shape, but if you don't really care for it. Then yes, it would be a good trade.
2. It depends on the shape of the gun.
3. The Springfield .45 is a powerful piece, I would make the trade.

Would depend on the condition of the 1911 and what comes with it but yes I'd seriously consider the trade.
Stepping out of the actual firearms here, but lets assume your numbers are 100% accurate.
Would you trade me $500 of your dollars for $700 of mine?
Depends on the condition of all guns involved. but this is probably a great trade.
Probably... what specific version of the the SA 1911 is it?
I wouldn't get rid of my Remington 870 Super Mag 12 ga for a Springfield but I would for a Glock.
In like condition, yes.
No, but don't tell them that. Just make the trade.
