You will be expected to perform the following maneuvers on the driving test............

Parking on a hill:
When the vehicle is facing DOWN hill: Maneuver to about 6" to 1' away from the curb(or edge of road). **Apply parking/emergency brake, THEN shift to park (on automatic transmission).** Turn your steering wheel as much as you can to the right(toward the curb/edge of road).
When the vehicle is facing UP hill: Same as down hill, EXCEPT: turn the wheel as far as you can to the LEFT(away from curb/edge of road) instead of right.
In a nutshell: Downhill = right; Uphill = left and e-brake before park (assuming you are parking on the right side of the road way). The reason they say to point your wheels one way or the other is so the car will not roll down the hill if the transmission and/or parking brake go out. As long as your front tires are pointed the correct direction, the curb will catch your car if this happens. It doesn't help at all if you're on a road without a curb, but still do it if it comes up on your test.
Hi,
I am sorry to be brutally honest, but if you are asking these questions, you shouldn't be driving. These are fundamental things.
You should take lessons with a qualified professional driving instructor.
Good luck and Kind Regards,
