An important message I received from a potential employer has been placed into the spam folder by Gmail with the following message: "Message Status: Undeliverable. It seems to be a fake "bounce" reply to a message that you didn't actually send." But I did send the email and I need to read it. Is there any way I can still view it? Thanks.

If it's a genuine email, just mark it as 'not spam' and you'll be able to read it. Actually you should be able to read it just by opening it - when a message is marked as spam it doesn't get changed, other than to add the warning from Google as to why it's counted as spam.
Note, though, that it's quite common to get fake bounce messages sent, apparently, from genuine people you've been in touch with, but really from spammers. So make sure that you don't click any links in the email just in case it really is phishing spam of some kind.
I haven't experienced that yet. But most often Gmail will put emails in the spam if they are notorious spammers or having been flagged as spam for various users. The best that you can do is to send the email again.
No, i am perfectly satisfied with Gmail Spam detection. Check if you have marked in past as spam.
Check sent mail folder.
> If you find a message wrongly classified as spam, you can unmark the message.
> Just select the message, and click the Not Spam button that appears at the top and bottom of your current view.
> Unmarking a message will automatically move it to your inbox.

Look in the spam or junk folder.
