I've been playing GTA IV for quite a long time. I finished the game and got bored of Niko. I then started playing with Player mods to change Niko's appearance. (There are no other mods that I installed). It worked perfectly fine. Then I decided to install the latest patch of GTA IV (1.0.7.0), and after I tested the game, it crashed right after the loading screen (which says "Loading - Story Complete..."). I tried to reinstall the game and all, it worked fine again. But whenever I try to mod it again (same mod as before) the error keeps reappearing. I have 256mb of video memory, all settings in GTA IV are set to lowest. I can run it in a playable FPS. Do you know some fix with this?

Grand Theft Auto 4 version may throw a fatal error resc 10 when running on Windows 7. The GTA 4 video game is not originally designed to run on Windows 7. To get rid of this error, the GTA 4 can be run in compatibility mode for either the Windows Vista operating system or Windows XP operating system. There is an option in the GTA 4 shortcut to run the game in compatibility mode through the properties tab settings. If the fatal error resc 10 problem persists, the graphics settings of the system can be checked to ensure that they are not set to a high value.
Wow, Thank you! I was asking myself the same question today
