Hello everybody :) I am a 14 year old girl. I have really bad self-esteem issues. I don't think I'm very pretty, I compare myself to others EVERYDAY, I haven't really found anything that I'm good at, and for the past 10 months or so, I haven't been truly happy.
Does anything have any activities or stuff that they say to themselves that can help them improve there self-esteem?

Hi Morgan, Thanks for your honesty, I'm a 50 yo guy and I am struggling with Self-esteem issues myself and can look back at a life time and see how it has limited me and kept me from all the things I've wanted. You now it's funny but I have been told all my life that I'm good looking but I never believed or it didn't seem to make any difference in my life. Because even though I am good looking I have suffered from low self worth and so shyness, and that has kept people away from me. Here is a quote from Shakespeare: Our doubts are traitors, And make us loose the good we often might win by fearing to attempt. I have found this to be so true.
On a really good and positive note: You'r so young and if you start now I can see that in a very short time you can change your whole life in every way. Though you can't see this at the moment, trust me, because after a life time of hell that you wouldn't believe, I am beginning to understand what and why I have had so much trouble and how to change it.
There is lots of self help books that can really offer you help in many ways, I will leave you to find them for yourself but I want to tell you basically what the problem is and how to in the shortest and most direct way change it.
It all boils down to you thoughts. This may be a little hard to explain but bear with me.
Weather you think its wrong or right, justified or not, from this day forward you always have a choice, think negative thoughts about yourself or think positive thoughts. You must choose and start to "put in" good loving and caring thoughts about yourself. If you don't take action to instil thoughts of strength, power and love by default you will stay in the old groove, the old worn out broken record of negative self talk that creates a life of limitation and suffering. It's hard at first because it will conflict with the entrenched old thoughts that seem more real. "I love myself and am a beautiful person" Say it over and over and watch the old thoughts come to the front in protest, but stick with it. Keep doing it until you feel the change, best time is just before falling asleep and upon awakening. By changing your self-image the change in circumstance will happen automatically, same as it does now. Take it from me, a guy who used to hate himself and feel inferior and as a consequence missed out on a lot because I was to scared. Everything starts with Self Love and it really is as simple as I say...But you got to be persistent until you kill the negative loop recording that you picked up from somewhere. Begin today and as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow in a short time you will become freer and confident. It's gotten to the point now where my head will start doing it's thing, you know, criticising me, putting me down etc. Now it doesn't affect as much, I have distance from it, I know my head is just like a broken record and don't pay attention to it as I know it is dying. I hope I have helped in some small way and I hope I have given you an idea of what you need to start looking at. honestly Morgan if you start now to tell yourself good things I promise within 12 months you will be a different person and growing stronger in every way. All the best.
P.S. The reason why you repeat an affirmation is because the more you repeat it the more you put it into you Sub Conscious, which will accept whatever it is told. Some where in the past you began telling yourself negative things and now it's on auto... saying,I love myself, is planting a seed in your subconscious but you need to water it by repetition, just keep doing it and it will grow and become automatic. You can use specific affirmations. Example, you catch yourself calling yourself an idiot after making a mistake with something. Replace it with the opposite, I'm very intelligent and love myself, etc. A famous affirmation which is a fix all is. Day by day in every way I'm getting better and better. Say it in the morning, say it at night 20 times, try falling asleep saying it. Walking to school or whatever sing it, it's got a catchy ring to it. Sing it internally or out loud, get a rhythm going. These days it picks me right up. Think about it, whats it saying and meaning. The more you say it the more real it becomes and the more it happens.
Everyone is beautiful in their OWN way remember to always smile because u Never know who might be inlove with it💗
