I live in home with several relatives. Going to buy a new notebook, comes with a "lock port". Is this a method of locking the computer? What is the best way to keep my computer private/strictly for my use. Yes, will be password protected so only I can sign on/correct? How do I prevent "key loggers", etc. or those programs that supposedly can be downloaded from a different computer/run in "stealth" mode. Is there ANYway to be truly totally secure? Some say web based email (yahoo) is safest, nothing goes to hard drive unless I download something from an email..correct?..help/thanks!!

Norton Internet Security 2009. Symantec rewrote the program to be very fast, light and effective.
Symantec is the largest computer security company and they send out pulse updates every 5-15 minutes. They also have identity protection, antispam, firewall, antispyware, antirootkit, antivirus, antiadware, etc, built into their product.
I don't work for Symantec either. I'm a self-employeed computer repairman that's been removing malware for over a decade. I know what works, and what doesn't. Norton is a great product in my opinion.
AVG- Lacks rootkit detection, which is critical. I've had clients come in complaining AVG won't update because it had been hijacked.
Avast- No proactive protection, such as HIPS or heuristics. This is also critical since it WILL NOT protect you against new/unknown malware.
Avira- Displays a lot of ads to pay for the free version. It also struggles to detect adware and some forms of spyware (like rogues).
