Applications on my pc keep crashing after i run them for a few minutes due to problem loading or reading .dll files. like "executive.dll", "geometry.dll" etc. sometimes my OS crashes and the error report it brings up also seems due to a ".dll" system file. does this happen because of a problem with my motherboard or my hard drive? or because of a virus(though i doubt it is because i have anti virus software installed). i tried reinstalling windows to see if the problem would be fixed, but it still persists. i really need help fixing this so all suggestions are welcomed. Thank you for reading this.

better reinstall OS
Interesting. Well first I would, depending on your operating system, pull up all ".dll" files by using your search function on your software operating system. At this point determine as to what program the .dll files relate to and then see if it is conflicting with other software applications on your computer.
Sometimes depending upon the Virus software you have, viruses or for that matter Trojans may be at play and the cause of your problems. How you ask? Well unless your software updates itself through a software subscription to combat the new generations of viruses, then even if you have anti virus software you will not be protected. This is just my opinion.
Solutions to this problem in my opinion would be to reinstall your operating software using the default settings and in-addition install Norton Anti Virus Suite via online and hopefully that will correct your problems. This is just my opinion.
Good Luck!
P.S. Depending on your Windows Operating System you may want to go online to Microsoft Windows and check to see if there are any "patches " or bulletins which may pertain to your specific operating system.
It may be a disk problem if certain sectors are bad, but mainly its an operating system problem. Make a note of any dll file names that are not found , and do a search for them. They may be dll associated with an application rather than the system though.
Google the dll name to find what it is from.
that sounds like adware or ransomeware to me. Check your antivirus package and make sure it is up to date. Also, if you are lacking an antispyware application, install one. Super AntiSpyware or Spybot Search & Destroy are good ones to use and are free downloads.
Another thing to consider... doing a repair installation of Windows will not affect installed programs. Also, that kind of malicious software is often not recognized by an antivirus engine because it is not viral code but rather an actual program. You may want to gotot he Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and check out your installed applications. Google the names of the ones you don't recognize before deciding to remove them.
You can, of course, get profssional help online from places like ZolexPC.com for assistance in cleaning malicious items from your computer.
Since no virus software is 100% effective, that can not be ruled out. Reinstall and see what happens
Not motherboard or hard drive, it is your software operating system. I will suggest re installation of your operating system.
verify first to work out in case you have a restoration partition, which might assist you to to reinstall. you could ought to look in the instruction manual or verify the Gateway website. Gateway could be prepared to sell you restoration disks affordably.
