How do I import excel contacts to Outlook express?

I have 1600 contacts in an excel file that consist of company names and fax numbers. I need to import it into outlook express and have the fax numbers automatically go into the proper outlook express fields. When I select import to the fax field, it says "you must select either name, company name, nickname, or email as the field to import." All I want to do is import my contacts into a program that will let me fax everyone with just one click. Why is this so damned difficult?
