My grades have been dropping lately because i play travel softball, school softball, have lots of homework, friends to hang out with, and stuff I want to do.
I guess you will have to look at what is important to you. Now and for the future. Do you really love softball? Will your friends hang out with you if you don't get into college and they do? What will you do for a living if you don't go to college?
My daughter plays high school softball,m and competitive level softball in the summer. Around a hundred games a year. Carry's a Straight A average. She does homework sometimes in the van to and from games. She wants to play softball in college. She sees her friends when she can, but sometimes in life you must make a choice as to which thing you want most, and which is more important to you for your life.
Thats exactly what I've been trying to avoid. Its hard to balance all my homework and sport times. I usually get about 6 hours of sleep on weeknights. Plus, finals time is coming, and the state testing. Its hard. And on top of that, I have 4 hours of practice 4 to 6 days a week.
I do all my homework at night, right after I get home from practice. Then I go straight to sleep. (I finished my stuff, so I'm on my computer.) I also try to do as much as I can at school. So like when the teacher is explaining stuff in class, I'm doing as much homework as I can.
Hang out with your friends on the weekends. However, I like having my Saturdays to unwind. Sit infront of the tv all day in my pjs, and take naps. It gives me something to look foward to during the week.
Make sure you make your grades the priority though. If they're slipping, or if you have a big test coming up, explain to your coach, and they should let you off a couple practices. Especially the school softball. And I know this sounds stupid but,
There's no easy answer, I'm afraid. There are drawbacks to having so many extracurricular activities. Why not combine "hanging out with friends" with homework? It might not be "cool," but it might make homework go along a little quicker. You could also have whatever formulas you need for your math homework right by your side or have a dictionary next to you if you have reading homework.
Finally, your grades might be slipping because of study habits. Did you do study differently BEFORE your grades started slipping? Has your studying time changed?
You might ask your teacher(s) for some study tips. Some-times, a teacher will give you tips on what to study or how to study effectively if you ask them one-on-one.
I have been trying to figure out the same for two semesters now.
It's just that I am soo occupied with extra-curricular activities such that I am not spending enuf time on Studies. And may be that is the same with U. All u have to do is spend a little extra time and carefully plan how u spend the time. It may be tough, but remember No Pain No Gain :)
Try studying harder, get tutoring for the subjects you are weak in and perhaps give up one of your sports if they are distracting you from your schoolwork too much.

Make studying and doing your homework your first priority. Drop some of the activities that prevent you from doing that.

Prioritize! The grades come first!
