Unversity isn't about how many pages you read a day, it's about 'learning how to learn'
Always ask yourself "What's the main point he/she, this book is trying to get across" and "What message can I take from this and use in the "real" world.
Most things that are 500+ pages can be summed up much easier (sometimes even on just 1 page)
Keep your own book/notes that summerize what you see as the important bullet points that you understand, that make sense to you, that you didn't know before reading.
Or write your thoughts and notes about paragraphs in the book itself.
What you read or listen has to have meaning to you, you need to be able to relate it to something you know or have someway to use or pratice what you've read.
Only then you are learning !
When I was researching things I'd do that on almost an on-going basis because I'd run into segues.
I'd be out there look for women filmmakers and find a PH D theis on Astrology that caught my fancy and I'd read that 80 pages on the spot.
Then I'd find a thesis on Dorthoy Arzner and I'd read that on the spot.
Then I'd go throughs ome magazines
Then I'd pull out 10 history texts and read up on different women and make notes and photo copie pages.
When I'm on a good movement I can write 50,000 words in two days.
YOu read and takes notes. You build an outline based on what you read, using the headline text and then the important issues.
Overnight LAWYERS have to read through hundreds of court cases in order to find precendents to site the next day.
While what you are talkinga bout is a bit extreeme (party all year and hit the books a week before finals, have we?!) I do tell highschool and homeschool kids to be ready to read 500,000 words a week and write 100,000 words.
This is college. You study a period of history, organic chemistry, math 1, history of theater and take PE in even a light semester
Some people take 18 credit units a semester instead of 12
Write a question for each paragraph or if thats too much then each page. Once, you write questions that you think are important and might appear in the exam, then write the answers to them. This will definitely help you remember and not get bored by reading 500 pages a day, which is not something that a normal school or university does, but I guess they do.
Good luck!

Discipline is key to effective studying
- Remove all sources of distraction and concentrate on reading.
- Jot down important points while studying
- Pay attention to class notes
- Repetition is key to remembering...so repeat, repeat, repeat
- Revisit your old notes once a week
- Once you establish a good study habit, stick to it
- You'll feel good about studying once you've mastered the art
What kind of school do you go to? Even in medical school, you don't have 500 pages a day to read. If this were the case, your eyeballs would fall out from overuse and abuse.
500 pages sounds a lot..but nothing is impossible. The best and easiest thing would be selective study. I assume you have some idea of those 'pages'.Just select what is most important and make short notes or jot down points.
best of luck!
breath you study a little each day or you look at chapter summaries right before the test and at the online quizes that go a long with the books that what I do I do well
Which book do you like?Pretend that the homework is this book
By reading of course....
