I plan on upgrading the stereo system in a 1995 Mercedes S500, which has 12 speakers in it. I am not sure to what extent yet, but I already have the head unit. It is a Kenwood KDC-ST92HD

It puts out 22Wx4. So I just need to know how I am going to go about doing this. I don't necessarily need a sub right now, but I'm wanting to upgrade the speakers. But there's a lot of unknowns. Do I need to upgrade all 12 of the speakers? If not, which ones? I'm guessing I'll need an amp, what kind? What is the affordable options vs the best performance? What is the best balance? Honestly I just need a place to start, I read that it is fairly hard to upgrade this car's system but all the successful ones are supposedly amazing. So, help?
Update:Yes there is an amp in the trunk, as all the S500's had. I was told on a forum its a 7 channel Bose amp. It is a bose sound system, and apparently it needs a 4V head unit, which I have.

check and see if there are amplifier modules on the back of each speaker set. if not then you can simply replace each speaker set with the appropriate size speakers/ mid woofers / tweeters. ps ensure there is not an amp hiding somewhere in the vehicle that will cause the complications others have warned you about. good luck.
