If I get my associates degree as a veterinary technician but decide that the career is not for me and continue on to get my bachelors do I start from square one or is is just another two years to complete my bachelor's in a different unrelated field? Any advice or information is appreciated.

It will depend on a few different things....
Your general education classes may be transferrable (english, science, history, etc). You need to check your college catalog and the college catalog for the school(s) that you're looking at transferring to. It depends also on what field of study you enter for the bachelor's degree and how much overlap there is with the Vet tech program.
I would go to the college you've attended for Vet Tech training (the college Web site) and see if there is a transfer center or information page online. I would meet with an academic advisor to discuss your options. I would begin studying college catalogs and Web sites to find out about the programs that interest you and what the degree requirements are.
You can also use your local college or public libraries as a resource.

Some states have online transfer tools to help students determine which courses transfer from community college to state college or universities.

(You can find this information from the four year college/univ. transfer admissions pages or your Community college transfer center webpages.)
No, you would not start from scratch. You would transfer your core courses, and depending on your new major, you will probably transfer many of your sciences as well. Good luck to you.
