It's great, but it's not exactly a laptop. It's what's called a netbook.
Think a laptop with a weak processor, less RAM, a smaller screen, a smaller keyboard, no optical drive (for CDs/DVDs), a much longer battery life, and a much lower cost.
My business partner has had one for two years now - he loves it - I think he is running some flavor of Linux on there now - he loves to try different operating systems. He pounds on it quite a bit obviously - and keeps on ticking. :)

An eee pc is a netbook, not a laptop. That said, Asus has been the most reliable brand for the last couple of years.
