I'm just wondering how necessary it is to run a registry repair/ clean. Under what circumstances should a registry clean/repair be conducted? Which program do you recommend?
Thanks
Registry repair is necessary if you have a lot of program files and your computer has become really sluggish and slow over time.
If that's the case, then I recommend Regcure which is a product I use on all the PC's I service.
CCleaner is good for most situations but if you have really deep problems then try Regcure. It usually works first time...

I recommend cleaning the registry and I use "Registry Mechanic 8 for Windows" (there is many Registry cleaning programs out there)
But if you want a free one check out this one it's called "CCleaner"

If you're not having any problems, crashes, blue screens etc. then leave the registry alone.
That said, there's always broken/obsolete keys left over from re/un-installs.
Download, install and run the 'Registry' part of this...
If your system is running ok Don't use registry cleaners they can make things worse.
I think this site Registry Easy will answer all your questions, Take a look!
