K if it is not true then how the hel does that happen. the couple died. If you wach closely before she gets dragged out by the demon, you can see a shadow like at the door.
Remember that Hollywood will base something a "true account." By being a "true account" they do not mean "this is what truly happened" -- they merely mean that the account of events is true in as much as those events are understood by the people who experienced them.
Also, "based on" is another important phrase to observe. You can base a story a true account but then take artistic liberties with the story itself; you can exaggerate what happened.
The novel "The Exorcist" (and the movie of the same name) was "based on a true account." Only the events that happened did not focus on a young girl, they focused on a young boy allegedly possessed by a demon. Also, the boy was not exorcised in his home, he was taken to a monastery or spiritual retreat for treatment. Further, his head did not rotate 360-degrees on his shoulders as Linda Blair's did in the movie.
Hollywood likes to take a little truth and expand upon it to make a more compelling story. That's the movie business for ya'.
I have seen the original move from a cd that when it first came out where the two died in the end, but understand that the newer version was changed in the end somehow, haven't seen the redo one yet. It wasn't a big hit at first until they redone it and gave it another try.
Although from my experiences these things in the movie can and do happen in life.
Yes, it is a real movie. However, the movie "Paranormal Activity" did not use real footage, is not based on real footage, is not based on a true story or even an actual script.
Were did they get all those space ships and aliens that you saw in Star Wars? That has to be all true, right, because Hollywood couldn't just make something like that up could they?
It's a movie, starring actors. No, they did not die. When the production company picked it up, the considered recasting the whole thing and shooting it again using more well-known actors. No, it's not real.

The movie is based on true events or documents...it says it at the begining of the movie!!
The word would not have been invented if it had not of been realized.
