I've been on Vista for 19 months now (Dell Inspiron 1501), and I love Vista (but not quite so enthusiastic about the Dell). I've had no problems whatsoever, other than the occasional application that has not yet been upgraded for Vista - and those applications are not critical anyway.
I am all over the internet all the time, and got hit with only one virus, and that was because I stupidly downloaded something that Vista warned me not to download. It was a supposedly "unremovable" virus, but Vista's checkpoint/restore facility got rid of it in a matter of minutes.
Notice that the Mac commercials strongly imply that there are problems, but they never define them. If it were a politician running the same kind of commercials, we'd be suspicious that they have nothing more to offer than vague unsubstantiated accusations against the other person.
Vista x64 is quite stable compare to other OS I've tried before especially to previous MS OS and good graphics. Suprisingly Viruses and malicious softwares are not don't have the same success on penetrating this OS compare to previous versions of MSOS. BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH TO COMPENSATE MY FRUSTRATION:
BAD THINGS ABOUT VISTA especially x64 version:
1. Eat a lot of resources that can be classified as cosmetic. It eats resources not to be powerful and fast but only to be pretty.
2. Lack of Legacy support.
3. The Service Pack requires to much and unreasonable hard drive space.
4. Not a lot of x32 bit specific to certain field software runs on this.
5. A lot of software companies refuse to create patches or update so their software can run on Vista. Like dragon naturally speaking (maybe they are being ask to pay MS more)
6. It practically tried do dictate a new GUI for MS OS so this makes a very confusing for MS OS users. Even experts will scratch their head the first time they use it just because they cannot find the right icon in the control panel.
If most softwares run on all OS I will permanently ditch MSOS but since that is the case and I'm not alone using this PC, have no choice but to partially remain an MSOS user.
The best OS for me is vista, when it is good installed with automatic updates and install updates while you are sleeping in the night, no crashes, no problems at all, easy to understand and easy to use, it solve automatique problems that causes other software. Always up to date.
ie: Vista is for lazy people, because you have nothing to do!
A best program if installed good with the right preferences.
I don't think so, so far all my programs from my old XP I could install onto my new Vista. So far for me in my experience, Vista is an upgraded XP that looks sleaker and has features to help using the computer better.
im using vista and i really like mac but i think vista is really great and ya occasionally problems occur but they re minor u won hav problems if you take care of ur com. :)
