So i just installed a new motherboard, with a bunch of new hardware too. My whole machine is made out of the following:
AsRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 mobo
Intel i5 2500k processor
Kingston HyperX Genesis 2 x 4 GB (ddr3) ramm
a 750 Watts powersupply.
and Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS graphics card (temporary ).
I use my old graphics card right now because my other one dosent work, in this motherboard. The one that I'd like to use is an ATI radeon 5770 HD graphicscard, that works just fine in my old motherboard.
So here's the odd thing.. When i insert my ATI graphics card my computer instantly boots (without me pressing anything) for 5 seconds, and then shuts down. Then it reboots itself continuously and shuts down after 5 seconds as before, until i unplug the power of course.
This dosen't happen with my old tiny graphics card? I just insert it and press the power button, and it will boot normally.
What does this mean? And why does my computer act so weird when my ATI card is in it?
-(by the way, i do also plug-in the extra 4pin power socket in my graphics card, but without any diffrence.)

1.reset the CMOS battery(remove the battery and keep it back)from the motherboard
2.re-install the graphic card
3.update the bios manually and primary graphic video is set to PCI-E
sounds like its shorting somewhere in a minor way
you need to disconnect everything thats not actually needed
disconnect hard drives
disconnect cdroms, floppies etc
all the cables, data and power
CHECK your other wires like the ON switch
its amazing how many people fit these to the LED outputs
or something stupid like that, which can affect how the ON /OFF status
is detected. In the bios if you hold in the ON button it will probbaly
START every 5 seconds......are you feeling it....that sinking feeling.
Manuals often show the PINS of the master Header in a reversed
order or people just get confused by the layout. The mobo
often has tiny writing and Link lines printed against the Master Header
bank of pins get your magnifying glass out and see what you have done wrong.
the ON of button is not a button at all just a SENSED state.
Typically USB ports that are just PINS on the MOBO are fitted
INCORRECTLY, like for the front panel USB sockets
USB Pin allocations are UNIVERSALLY completely UNIQUE to each MOBO.
the makers dont seem capable of sticking to any rules.
so yank everything off except the on off switch and see if the video works then
oh and by the way with a system doing this and it sounds like its getting
SHORTS across the 5V rails, this will CORRUPT the CMOS really
easily
so you will need to keep checking and LOADING DEFAULTS in the BIOS
else weird things will keep happening.
Don't know about you old card, but the ATI Radeon HD 5770 has a 6pin PCI-e power connector. Did you supply power to it that way also, or did you just plug it in the motherboard slot.
The 6pin PCI-e power connector looks like this:

uncomplicated answer. yet its a 2 step technique. test your RAM for errors (verify google fo gentle) if no ram errors exchange the video card- possibly its RAM is ineffective. If all is exchange been made and nonetheless errors. The CPU is ineffective. (I actual have this situation earlier- found out CPU became defective-after changing 4 RAM stick a million video card and a fortune i replace the cpu to quadcore and now in no way had a crash.)
