If it is hard drive that was added, then this space is a different location and cannot be accessed through C:\.

A BIG misconception that all memory is equal. If you install physical memory into the computer, it does help make the computer work faster, but does not give you more space to store files. Try browsing to http://www.crucial.com,/ they have an online application (presuming you can download it!?!) which can analyse the RAM on your PC, tell you how many slots you have, what RAM is in what slot and how much RAM you can add. I presume this is a RAM question? Best thing would be to ask your 'freind' what he did, and then come back with a more precise question...or ask him to undo it!...and then visit crucial.com...

some boards are very choosy when it comes to memory chips.compaq,gateway,ibm are some computers with very choosy baords.they will accept other memories and reject some.they have what i personally call 'compatibility issue'.just remove the memory that was fixed lately and see what happens.
