I've been searching high and low for a way to download myspace email to my computer. I can't do it through manual cut and paste because there are thousands. They don't seem to offer POP3/IMAP so Outlook/Thunderbird seem to be out of the question. The plugins that I've found seem to be nonfunctional. And the myspace forums don't seem to have a clue.
I've heard google gears might work although I'm not sure how to set it up to do so (do I just download it and thats it?) My first priority is to get the messages on my computer undamaged. Secondarily, I'd like to preserve the original messages in the inbox, get them into a format that is easily read/searched offline, and be able to read those pesky ones where the sender had a deleted account. If anybody could help me with these problems it'd be much appreciated...
Thanks.

Sorry but Google Gears was disabled about two years ago, and was a search mechanism for find or sort messages with. About the only ones that are likely to respond, that has any knowledge of MySpace, is Abraxus, maybe Mars, if if should pop in, or myself.
To my knowledge there is no way to currently download messages from MySpace, if there was I would have gladly shared that information in the forums, as well as having done a blog on it. But should a means or I find one, I'll post it in the one forum where others can see it and be able to use it, as well as any of the other regulars of that group of forums knowing what, or at least where to send people for that information. As even I have at times wished for a means to download messages. But as of the moment the only way I know to save them other than as a screen shot, is by using the view source, the to copy and [paste it into another text document, and save that.
As to the deleted messages, there is no way to recover those, once a user's profile has been deleted, under normal circumstances. Under extenuating one where it's actually a very serious legal matter, it might be possible by way of a court order, and even then judges aren't to keen to go there. Also the man hours that it would take the staff to find and restore those messages, wouldn't be viewed as cost effective by MySpace, as well as the courts, which is why it's not done.
what is myspace?
