I would eventually get both. It actually depends on what kinds of games you want:
The undying charm of Nintendo? (Mario)
Or the games the PSP has to offer for the harder-core audience?
Comparison:
The Nintendo DS:
Has GREAT multiplayer games, very good single-player as well. Play across the world or with a friend wirelessly. Unique touch screen controls.
Has Mario, Zelda, Metroid. Is more family friendly hardly any M rated games, yet very fun.
PSP:
Has the most amazing graphics on ANY handheld system. Games for the Hardcore audience, some casual games also.
Has Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, Metal Slug, Burnout, The Warriors.
It's up to you, but I would actually go with the PSP (170 bucks) Shell out the extra 40 bucks for a PSP and you'll be happy. Great games, great graphics. More value or you're cash.
PSP it has way better graphics and better games. the games for DS are made for a younger player but psp games have all your favorite playstation games in your hands. along with wireless internet and wireles multiplayer PSP is the way to go.
