I've searched all over google but haven't had any luck finding anything on my problem.
The games sound is there, but the screen is frozen on some parts and will only display a still image of what is currently going on when i change between fullscreen and windowed (alt-enter).
If anyone can tell me what I can do to fix this, it would be much appreciated, since I'm currently stuck half way through Chrono Cross and MMX 6 >_<
P.S - I have messed with the video drivers a bit, but with no avail

Hmmm.. I've played a few games on ePSXe before and I've run into a few problems somewhat similar to yours. Here are a few solutions that have worked for me (with various games):
1) I updated the emulator's video configuration (ei. Pete's Open GL to version 2.9-etc.) and looked for any specific game configurations (check http://forums.ngemu.com/epsxe-discussion/) that are known to work well for the game. Also check for any bugs. This solution stopped all my iso files from freezing at the start of emulation.
2) Leave the game be for awhile or constantly hit the talk button (I'm going to assume you're at a part with talking- that's where I had a little bit of trouble with Chrono Cross). The issue might resolve with a bit of time. I would have a part of the game where the screen would go completely black except for some text boxes. If all else fails button mash for a minute or two.
3) The file you are using could have been copied from a corrupted CD. This happened with me during Final Fantasy VII. The game would work normally until I reached a specific FMV. The screen would go black and I could sometimes see random parts quickly flash by. The game would completely stop and I could not continue. To fix this I had to acquire another copy of Final Fantasy VII in order to continue playing (I had to restart though).
I'm going to guess your problem is #3 which is a shame because it is the most time consuming. However I suggest you try #1 and #2 first before restarting your game.
