i have a p4 1.5ghz (i know its old) i am currently playing bf2 with lag but as bf2 needs a 1.7ghz processor i was wondering is the lack of processer speed would cause this.
the old p4's are pretty good at overclocking. you might want to try that first before buying a whole new system. 1.7ghz is what it needs really yo run the game on minimum settings so getting it to this point or above should solve the problem. also, when playing online, try not to go above 16 players, having a game with 64 will not help things!
As has been said, it could be the processor, but it could also be the processor in conjunction with the graphics card and RAM. Without knowing what the rest of your system consists of, it is impossible to say.
The processor upgrade alone will help, but not sure your problem I suspect. If your processor is that old, so too are your other components.
Sell the old one, or start saving and upgrade to a new PC.....:)
New processors are less expensive than they used to be, but you have to get one with the same kind of socket as your old one. Games require a good graphics card that can help a lot. You need to see if you have an AGP slot,or PCI, or PCI express. Sometimes its actually less expensive to sell your used pc for as much as you can and buy a new pc. You can get a new one for about $400 that is a lot faster than your old one.
It is likely that the processor is the reason for your lag, but there is no way for us to know for sure without information about your other components.
In other words, what video card do you have and how much system memory?
It would cause lagg but if you want to upgrade i recomend either a intel core 2 duo or if u want somthing easier on the pocket book then try a athelon AMD 64 X2

Yes it will cause lag. I would suggest an upgrade of it when you can. Also make sure your graphics card isnt struggling to run it aswell.
Most importantly though, try and have about twice as much ram as you will ever use and your system will always run better.
To help your game run easier try stopping everything else aswell.

I would check to see wat graphic card u are using they depend on how well the game plays but it could be the processor
