i am looking for a good book or perhaps play to do a serious prose for speech on...i was leaning toward something with maybe the death of a friend, drowning, or something with death in it... I NEED HELP!!!

Here's an idea. Check out the play Our Town by Thornton Wilder. It's all to do with the cyclical yet permanent nature of life and how no one ever stops to truly appreciate it. It has the death you're looking for, and it's serious, unique, and interesting.
I think that's the most time anyone has said or typed some form of the word serious in a paragraph. I seriously think you deserve an award.
