I am an Abu Garcia fanboy so the Revo would be my choice (that is all I use for baitcasters right now anyway). Abu Garcia is my preference because I learned how to cast with an Ambassaduer 5000 many years ago. But I can't say with any certainty they are any better than the Curado. I have used a buddy of mines Curado a few times and it is a damn fine piece of gear. I don't think you will go wrong either way but once you make the choice stick with it if you need to get more reels. It makes for a comfortable transition when switching setups. All my reels are Revo's and all of my rods are Falcon Lowrider's and Cara's for that reason, same handles on the reels and same grip in my hand.
The Revo S is more comparable to the Curado. The guy at my privately owned tackle shop told me that all of his coworkers and him have switched from Curados to the Revo S and Winch. He said that the Revo S will outperform the Curado easily. But it is all opinion.
Grrreeeaat... the ultimate debate in baitcasters is about to happen. Watch it, you just opened up a whole can of worms by asking this. It's all a matter of opinion when it comes to these two particular reels. Not one answer is right or wrong, it all depends on YOU taste.
EDIT:
Oops! forgot to actually answer. Personally, I would go with a Curado CU50E for plastics. A hundred yards of 8 pound line suits me just fine.
EDIT 2:
Holy sh*t. I must be the only one here that isn't obsessed with over-the-top amounts of drag pressure. I guess the thumb down on a fully OPINIONATED answer must have come from a Curado hater.
there's really not a certain answer. both of these reels will perform well. I WILL say, however, that the curado will cast lighter lures slightly better and is also going to be lighter. if you're going to fish any lighter baits I'd opt for a curado. for frogs and such the revo will suit you with it's 24lb drag. (DAYUM!)
the curado by FAR!! that reel so outclasses the S series revo, it's not even a contest. do you want a reel from china or japan? unless you are going to use it for flipping or heavy braid. then l'd go with the revo "winch" with 24 pounds of drag. twice that of the curado. but simply casting hardware, the curado is extremely hard to beat. :)

I have a curado, the lady friend fishes several, but I have more ABU garcia's, including the Revo SX.
The drag on the garcia is one smooth beast handy to have when you need to horse one out of the timber.
Both are excellent reels. (I've had the pleasure of using both)
However, I choose the Revo SX. Why???? It has an excellent (strong) drag system, (Revo 24LB's Vs Curado 10LB's).
You will want that extra drag pressure if your using this reel for Froggin' or any heavy cover.
Here is reviews of both:
1. Revo- http://www.basspro.com/Abu-Garcia-Revo&153;-SX-Low...
2. Curado- http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Curado-E-LowProfile...
Hope this helps?
