Ok..Where did you place your custom content downloads after you unzipped them? You might have placed them in the wrong downloads folder, which is a common mistake.
Go to your Documents folder. Then you will see a folder called EA Games.Within the EA Games folder is your sims 2 folder. There you will find all your game files. On the list of files you look until you see the downloads folder. If you don't see a downloads folder, make a new folder and name it downloads. Now you place your downloaded custom content into this downloads folder. Now you are ready to see them in your game. You have already enabled custom content to show when you started your game.So you've done everything else right.Look into your sims catalog in the game to look for whatever content you downloaded.Look well because some mods might not be in the places you would think. All custom content shows up in the catalog with a little * symbol beside it.Still don't see it?Restart the game and try looking again.Sometimes you have to restart the game a couple times when you first place new content. After it shows up once it will always show up thereafter. If you still don't see it,you got ahold of some bad mods.I get all my mods from modthesims2.com,but there are many different places but that is my favorite place, which is very reliable.Well good luck and have fun with your new mods!
In the future, when you download new mods,I suggest you make a folder on your desktop, name it something like Sims 2 content or whatever you want, then unzip the files there.Move the unzipped content to your game downloads folder after that.Doing it this way is just a quicker and easier way to place and organize what you download instead of just unzipping straight to your Sims 2 downloads folder(less clicking)Also it allows you to make sub folders within your downloads folder to organize the content. For example, you could make a sub folder that is just for custom clothes,a folder just for custom furniture ect..Its all up to you how you organize your content, but I just suggest this because if at any time you want to remove something completely from your game, its easier to find. Its whatever you want:)
