Luckily this hasn't happened in a while. since i was little, i would fall asleep and after a while, i would "wake up" in the same room and see everything around me as if i were really "awake" the only thing is i cant move and it is very frightning. i will force myself to either move my fingers or toes and then eventually, i will snap out of it and either wake up completely or fall back asleep. i researched this and found out it is called sleep paralysis. it is scary because i tell myself what if i cant breathe anymore or if i stay like this forever. i am completely aware of my surroundings..am i really awake. if i am not then how come my surroundings are like they are when i am really awake when you dream, usually it isnt anything like everyday life. usally wierd things happen. are you really awake during sleep paralysis. i heard of some cases where people hallucinate. luckily this hasnt happened yet. ive been lucky because this hasnt happened to me in about a year but ive been feeling alittle weird before and after i wake up so im scared its gonna start up again. please help

OMG!! I swear this used to happen to me too!! And you described it to a T!! One night I had it happen no less than half a dozen times in a row!! I told my current bf to watch me fall asleep and to wake me if it looked like I stopped breathing...he says I never stopped though, so please rest assured that you don't really stop breathing (I guess). I also haven't had it happen in years...probably 4. Honestly though, there is no point stressing something you cannot control. Maybe it is something that is grown out of. I had spoken to my neurologist about this and he didn't pay it much mind (I was seeing him for a different sleep disorder at the time, but surely it would have been made an issue if it was life threatening...he IS a neurologist after all) I think it has been a while for you as well. A year is a good start anyway...maybe the time has passed for you as well. How old are you?? I am 27...problem began as teen and ended around 23-24...best of luck.
This just happened to me this morning. It usually happens at least once a month. It's quite often for me, but this morning is an example of hallucinating. I woke up and called me husband and then after I hung up, I layed back down and then I heard weird noise and a shadow walked into my room and right up next to me at my bed. I tried to scream and move and I couldn't. Then I was able to blink and it disappeared. I called my husband back right away to ask him if I had actually called him because I thought I was awake the whole time. It turns out that I actually DID call him. You're lucky it doesn't happen to you that much.
i know people personally that have described similar symptoms but they claimed it felt like something sat on their chest suffocating them, or they could see a dark figure. and apparently this is quite terrifying.
most people believe it is all in your head and that it is your wild imagination doing it, it seems to be more common then people think.
pretty sure i've heard the term sleep paralysis or "entity" when referring to these symptoms
the people i know deal with it by when it happens, they struggle to move and when they can move again they have to wake up completely and then go back to sleep after it feels out of their system. other wise it will continue to happen if they go back to sleep.
one person said it has happened once or twice in their life, another is once a week, and another is more random and sometimes goes months without an attack.

There isn't a whole lot you can do about it without a doctor. The body can release chemicals into the body during sleep to prevent the mind from hurting the body during sleep/dreaming, it sounds to me like the gland in your head doesn't get the information that your awake until the "2 min"(time slows down in the brain when adrenaline is pumped into your blood stream) is up. I would be willing to bet its not 2 min. There is also the possibility that your body isn't actually awake and you just have a fear of that happening because it happened to you with the Previously smoked drug. So its either a fear of yours thats being manifested in your dreams or your brain is actually overproducing chemicals.
This happened to me a lot when i was younger. It turned out that I was hust too fat to get back up and still tired and i just wanted to go back to sleep. try that, eventually you just end up going to sleep again and when you wake up its normal again

But my house is haunted and i saw stuff and culdnt move!
