Hello.
I've taken an interest in web development (and a bit of web design) and thought it would be great if I could make a career out of it. As the saying goes, "You don't have to work a day in your life if your hobby is your job".
Anyways, my question is, are all web design jobs freelance? If possible I would like to avoid becoming a freelancer because I'm not confident that I can manage my time and income very well and not having a guaranteed or stable income gives me a bit of anxiety.
Also, with the increasing number of CMSs and schools teaching CS and WD courses, will the Web Developing industry become extinct in the not-so-far future?
I would like to decide ASAP whether I should pursue this field as a possible career or keep it as a hobby and focus elsewhere especially considering that I choose an internship program in IT/Web Design or office work this summer.
Thank you so much for your time and answers.
xo

Most websites hire a bunch of web developers full time.
Keep in mind that a modern website has a large layer or "Stack" of code to keep it running. SQL, Java, HTML & CSS are common. But using databases, mongoDB, REST services, etc. is also common.
There are also many formerly third-world companies that can throw a team of developers at a web site to do work. Many companies are quietly laying off local web developers in favor of Indian, Ukrane or Asian based companies where they can get 2-3 developers remote for the price of 1 local, and not have to pay benefits like vacation, insurance, unemployment, etc.
So be careful.
