I wouldn't go to Walmart. I had my left ear pierced years ago at Piercing Pagoda, my right ear recently at Claire's. Claire's was pretty embarrassing as it's kind of a girly store. They also don't have a great selection. Piercing Pagoda has a much wider selection of nice stuff for guys, not only piercing studs but also other studs and simple hoops as well. After a month to six weeks you can take the original piercing studs out and wear something else you like. I know some people say to stay away from piercing guns, but that han't been my experience. It takes some self-confidence to "take the plunge" and get your ears pierced, but if you're like most guys who've had it done you'll be happy with the result. It looks cool and sets you apart.
I would advise AGAINST going to anywhere that pierces with a gun. Go to a tattoo shop, they use sterile hollow needles which is the best way to get ANY piercing done. Although the earlobe is the least risky to get done with a gun, it still isn't a good idea. The way tattoo shops pierce, it actually cuts out part of the skin so it doesn't hurt as bad, and heals up much quicker.
I didn't even know that you could get your ears pierced at Wal-Mart.
Go to Icing, or Claire's. I know those are girly stores, but they'll be more than happy to do it for you, and it'll be more sanitary and proffesional if you get it done there instead of say, a biking store.

Anywhere you go is pretty much the same. Claire's, Piercing Pagoda, Wal-Mart, etc.
