Doctors rarely go over everything to see what's wrong with you. They only treat the illness you have based on symptoms, they aren't even that highly advanced, with their own medicines, and drugs by big pharma. They discouraged me from anything herbal, and said that should be under supervision, yet they dispense these "Safe" pharmaceuticals like candy.
When it comes to advice on spiritual/mental health, exercize, herbals, teas, yoga, alternative medicine, etc etc, they not only don't know anything about it, but seem to discourage it.
Why?
Is it a business thing?
If so, they should burn in h#ll.
I mean yes, if I had a bacterial infection, I'd prefer zithromax, to oregano oil, LOL, or something herbal, but I mean I don't see the big deal.
Just because the FDA did not approve/test herbals, doesn't mean that they're all going to kill you or be dangerous.
Doctors also never stop to tell you how harmful half the things we consume are.

1) they don't get paid for it
2) they don't get paid for it
3) the legal system in terms of malpractice dictates that you follow standard treatment guidelines to avoid litigation, and standard treatments are based upon much research and peer review. Drug companies can afford the rigorous FDA process (compare the cost of B vitamins to antidepressants and you'll see why they can afford it). Medicines are a medical mainstay. If doctors did prescribe naturopathic substances instead of those put out by Pfeizer et al, the funding for research and FDA approval might be there for these substances. Further, people are likely (although less so these days) to do what the doctor says as opposed to what a friend says.
I am a nurse and was "brought up" in the allopathic community. I have since changed my mind some. I think if you research some of the complimentary approaches (or wholistic ones), you may find some help. It would be important though to talk to your doctor (and pharmacist) about it when taking any new prescriptions and prior to any surgical procedure. These professional do have knowledge there (they have to).
I hear the Dominionist types have managed to put enough of their kids through med school that they're now causing real problems -- they won't prescribe contraceptives or even emergency contraception in cases of rape, they refuse to treat certain people that their imaginary friend allegedly doesn't approve of, etc. And we've all heard of the pharmacists who think it's their job to decide who gets which meds. It's not a big deal in densely populated areas where other doctors and pharmacies are available, but imagine the plight of patients in rural areas who may have nowhere else to turn for help. It's a disgrace.
Doctors base their diagnoses on medical studies and proven medical facts. That is why they went to medical school. They can only prescribe the medicines that have been proven to work. Herbal
supplements aren't always beneficial for everyone
so the doctors can't rely on that information. Today people love to sue so if a doctor were to prescribe something not proven and that patient
died the doctor would be sued. They error on the side of caution. They have to where human life is
concerned.
Hey there,
I am chinese and my family and I use chinese medicine sometimes.
I think the doctors disapprove because sometimes some bad chinese doctors put bad stuff in there that you don't know. So my family usually don't accept the powder ones. But we usually eat the ones that we cook and have visible herbs.
Alot of doctors think it is not as effective. Since it works slower. Both has it's plus side and bad side. Chinese medicine restructs the whole body, while American medicine doesn't. Instead it heals one part and destroys another. So their always is a side effect of American medicine. Like good for stomach bad for kidney. But it works much faster.
Also some stuff with your body is considered bad in Chinese, while normal in American medicine. So maybe that is why they think its weird.
Hoped I helped!
the answer is that, the goverment is out for your money a bit of people now days want to go herbal, and i am proud of them, the doctors want your money and if they prescribe you medication than they are making money, yes these medications are/can be dangerous or not help. Like lets take cancer for instance they have a cure and there is a cure but the goverment will not disclose that information because they want to make money from you. I have bought and read parts of the book Natural Cures they dont want you to know about. by Kevin Trudeau. and the second one, called, more natural cures revealed. He tells you cures for just about anything, including cancer and Herpes for an example. I really encourage you to read it. I hoped my information was/is helpful.
Sometimes it is harmful to be taking several herbs at the same time. It is like a drug interaction. Also, they want your money too.
Because all natural things are overthecounter, doctors make a lot of their money from prescriptions.
Simple,$
I think they get kickbacks from certain compnies when they prescribe their medication. Natural and herbal remedies dont do that.
doctors and drug companies do not make any money from herbal treatments.
