They don't serve your drinks to your table. They get minimum wage without tips. I dont see why baristas at Starbucks and other cafes should get tips. Servers deserve it, because they seat you at a table, bring you your food, and clean up your table after you're done, which is a lot more work than just making a latte imo. When I go to Starbucks, I dont give any tips, and the barista gets pissed and practically throws my drink to me with a b*tchy attitude. They don't deserve any tips imo.
What do you think?

Because in some cases they totally deserve it. The kind of people who religiously go to Starbucks and pay insane amounts of money for coffee are the same people who make life a living hell for a barista. Take it from someone who has worked as a barista (caribou coffee not Starbucks).
Those people demand custom drink orders. They can't just have a latte, oh no. It's gotta be a venti latte with two dallops of sugar, a smattering of foam in a perfect half moon shape. It must be soy with a tiny bit of skim because they are just a tiny bit of a vegan. And exactly 3 half pumps of vanilla flavoring, with 2 and 1/3 shot of espresso. God help you of you over that 1/3. Then you must make it again but this time it must be a specific 105 degree. And they only tell you they wanted sugar free vanilla after you are done making their drink again. Oh and they want this done in 5 seconds flat or they classify you a bad at your job.
Anyone who tips at Starbucks is insane; of course, even going into Starbuck's is insane. The coffee is ridiculous; overpriced and burnt beans and is only a status symbol among the yuppies today. Baristas (another ridiculous, pretentious title) make enough and no one should tip them a dime.
If you are not enjoying your Starbucks experience, then you are paying too much for coffee.
What Starbucks sells is a cheerful, friendly, day brightening, SERVICE experience along with a cup of coffee. People pay the Starbucks price and tip because they find this a pleasant contrast to the typical retail experience.
No one *deserves* a tip, that's why it's a tip. If your server did a job above and beyond and made your day better, tip him or her, not only at Starbucks. I've never had an issue with a barista being snippy with me--perhaps you just live in a snippy place.
Try being in their shoes for one day and you'll want to give them tips for the crap they put up with from some of the customers. Any and all jobs that involve customers are incredibly stressful. Obviously, that doesn't give that worker a right to give you attitude, but it doesn't hurt you to keep in mind that even a seemingly easy job can have it's difficulties. I can only assume that the particular barista you met probably just had one too many rude customers before you that ruined her day. No offense, but people like you with condescending attitudes who don't treat servers like people are exactly why it can be stressful. At least say thank you if you aren't going to give a tip.
I never worked at Starbucks before, but have worked as a cashier and even if it's an "easy" job, putting up with the people can become incredibly irritating.
They do their job. I don't tip the guy at McDonald's for making me a crappy sandwich, why should I tip a barista for making me an overpriced coffee?
Because they have to listen to a lot of loud boring obnoxious cellphone calls.
Here is funny starbucks songs by (former) employee Christopher Cristwell - entertaining stuff.
