I've tried Frostwire, Limewire, and Ares but all of them just say connecting...but never connect!
I have Windows 7 with the firewall for public connection off, but home connection on. I'm currently on a university (public) wifi connection, with the internet working fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Because practically every university blocks P2P traffic so their network won't be sucked down by thieves.
close down the firewall. Re-try the courses, and in the event that they connect, you comprehend the firewall is the subject. Tweak the firewall settings to allow connections for that software and/or ports used. stable success.
Uni probably blocked them, serves you right for using their network for your illegal activities...
