2004 VW passat Brake pads issues?
I have recently installed new brake pads without shims in 2004 VW passat v6. Every time I hit the brakes I hear click/clack noise coming from brakes. I contacted dealer they said you need to use original oem brake pads with shims from them and the noise would go away. is that really true, brake pads with shims dont move inside the calipers?

Yes, they need shims. Not all brake pads fit perfectly. By the way, OEM pads and rotors are not the best. Hence, the reason why I have Brembo pads and rotors on all the VW and Audi cars that I own. Better brakes for what it is worth.
yes the shims are needed
