it takes you 9 minutes to wash a car and it takes a friend 13 minutes. How long does it take the two of you working together to was 12 cars?

t=108/(1+9/13)
t=63.818 minutes
In 1 minute you finish 1/9 of a car and your friend does 1/13 of the car
Together in 1 minute you both finish 1/9 +1/13 = 22/ 117 of the car
Together you can wash 1 car in 117/22 minutes
So 12 cars will take 12 X 117/22 = 63.82 minutes ANSWER
