No clary and Jace are not related they eventually do find out that they are not related.although clary does have a older brother named Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern who goes by the name of Sebastian now. I think the Jace/Clary being related was only put in the books to complicate Jace&Clary's romantic relationship while also trying to show fans that Clary was not the only child of Jocelyn&Valentine and that Clary's older brother got stuck being raised by Valentine, while clary was raised by Jocelyn and Kind of Somewhat Luke. I have a feeling it is probably why clary&simon are such good friends they both have a older sibling because clary has an older while Simon has an older sister even though Simon and Rebecca had a better relationship then Sebastian and Clary had.
City of Bones (Mortal Instruments) book one weekend, and ended up finishing the whole series the next week. I absolutely loved it! As a fan of Twilight, I admit that I had low expectations for this series. I thought it would be one of the many imitations in YA fiction right now. It is not. In fact, I enjoyed it more than Twilight. The plot is more complex, and the characters certainly have more depth. Simon and Isabelle are my favorite characters. Although Simon is deeply in love with Clary, he does not allow her to take advantage of him. Isabelle is conceited and cold, but deeply loyal to her family. Even Jace is an unlikely hero. He certainly has character traits that are most unbecoming. It seems that Clary is the only somewhat predictable character--a young, innocent girl struggling with the reality of who she really is.
No, Valentine is really Clary's father, not Jace's. At the end of City of Bones, it was thought that they were but it wasn't until City of Glass where we actually find out that Jace isn't Jace Lightwood/Morgerstern/Wayland but Jace Herondale. Son of Stephen and Celine, when they died, Valentine took Jace (technically stole him) and raised him as his own, pretending to be Michael Wayland in order for the Lightwoods to take Jace as their own when Valentine "died".
It's like a never-ending web of how Jace and Clary aren't related... so I hope that made sense!

No. At first they didn't think so, then they thought so, and now they know they're not. :)
