3S-GTE. Do the swap. Like Rick said, you'll need to swap the tranny, axles and ECU, but it will be worht it. That engine was designed to fit in the Celica. Twin Cam, 16 valve, turbocharged....200 hp out the box with good torque. Some easy, inexpensive tweaking can get you close to 300 hp. Sold as the all trac turbo here in the states with All Wheel Drive but offered in both front wheel and AWD in other markets.
the best engine for the celica is the 3sgte...the same motor inside the 91-97 mr2 turbo...or the celica alltrac....but if you got the celica gt that comes with the 7afe motor...you could always convert that to a 7age motor by slapping on the 4age head off the 80's corolla or mr2...then slap on a turbo...just research more on the two motors and decide for yourself which one to go with...the 3sgte is a proven motor to produce monster power...
Don't swap. Do the work. It's well worth it if you know what to do. Bore it out to 2 liters, stronger positions and crank, valve job, high flow oil pump, racing cams, and turbo kit. You should have at least up to 240+ with all that.
