I have a windows vista and it recently stop working it keeps saying something about putting my installation CD in and i never receive one because i bought my computer in circuit city and they install everything in there for me all i had to do is set up the monitor and printer. I had a warranty if something like that happen i would just have to bring my computer in. Bad luck for me there are no more circuit city.So i was wondering if i install windows 7 on it will it work.
Update:i tried the recovery it still don't work it says: "Windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software change might be the cause". Under that it says add disc blah blah blah.... I even tried the recovery button it still does not work.

There is a partition on your hard drive, probably called "D". It contains all of the data the is needed to recover your computer. This partition needs to be burned to a set of CD's or DVD's. Computer manufacturers do not send dish anymore, instead they put all that info on the hard drive. If you haven't made a set of recovery disks and your computer crashes, you will be completely out of luck as far as recovering your computer. Read the manual that came with the computer.
Probably not. If it can it will probably say "Windows 7 capable" somewhere on it. Your first mistake was getting a computer with vista! Try installing something else it is compatible with such as Windows XP or Linux. If all else fails re-install vista. Hope that helps!
Download a Vista repair CD (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-ins... ) and see if that can't fix your Vista installation for you. If not, you could upgrade to 7, but it would be better to do a clean install of 7, to get rid of whatever damaged Vista. (And run a good fulltime anti-virus program, like Avast, to keep your computer clean once you get it working.)
That's so easy you just have to download windows 7 upgrade advisor from their site then install it it'll check your system's configuration and after that it'll give you the report for both the 64-bit & 32-bit editions of windows 7.
Hope it helps.

Contact the manufacturer of your PC and tell them you need to order recovery discs. You should be able to find their contact information on their website.

you have a recovery partition on your hard drive instead of disks.Pay attention for a short message during boot like "press F11 for recovery"
